Mojo Monday Week 88/Teacher Gifts

I'm back!!! And if feels good to finally be able to get creative again. Here's my Mojo Monday challenge card. It's for my daughters 2 teachers. I've also attached a photo of their summer themed gift. It has a beach towel, a good book, bottle of water, candy, a picture holder and a beach plaque. I think they'll like it. I love it. Thanks Katie for the inspiration!!!

Baby Shower Invitations...

I'm making some invitations for my Sister In Laws baby shower next month. What do you think? I knew I wanted to use the Onesie because it's so cute, but didn't want it to be just the Onesie. So I put it on top of a card. I love the Parisian Breeze DSP (#113993) from Stampin' Up. I've been in such a creative rut, but I think I'm out of it now. Yahoooo! These are just 2 examples. I ordered the Cute & Cuddly stamp set (#113682) to use instead of the New Baby stamp.

You were one strong little girl! You had more fight in you in 11 short months than most people have in their entire lives. You are an inspiration to millions. Thanks to the Freeman family for sharing their story with us.

HELP!!!

I'm in such a creative funk right now! Ugh. I don't even feel like ordering anything new. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??? Usually a new toy always get's me in the mood, but nope...nothing. Any suggestions? Ha!

Teacher Appreciation Week...

As Room Mom for Rebecca's class, it's my job to make sure the teachers get a nice gift for Teacher Appreciation week. I asked the parents who were able to, to donate $25 for the gifts. About half of the class was able to give so that was nice.
This was a fun project...even though I started very late. Our school is celebrating this week, instead of next. I think there was some confusion on which week it was. I thought it was next week..but non the less our teachers (we have 2) are getting a great gift baskets (who cares what week it is! They deserve it!) filled with Tastefully Simple desserts, Gold Canyon Candles (Grape...yum) and each one will get a $100.00 Visa gift card. And a couple of little things. But what I love the most are the 2 8x8 photo albums my friend Melissa and I made for them. I had a picture of each kid that I've taken over the year. I thought it would be cute to do a scrapbook with each kid and their name so that they can look back on this year. They turned out GREAT! Here's a couple of pictures...well more than a couple!

The front cover of the book. I love all the ribbon on the binding. I was excited to finally use my Zutter Bind-It-All that I've been neglecting. Took me a bit to remember how to use it. I screwed it up a couple of times. But was able to mask the mistakes pretty well.

A scrapbook page...

I did a page today for the first time in a while. With all the cards I've been doing I've let my pictures go on the back burner. I've got a few old photos I want to scrap and then I need to print all the one's I've taken over the last few months and do those. I'm taking a card break! Ha! It's not as easy to take a photo of pages as it is cards so bear with the blurriness.

I'm still here!

I've gotten several emails from you guys asking how the Relay went. It went GREAT. You can see it HERE in our local paper. The cards where a hit but we didn't sell all of them. We still brought in several hundred dollars (about $500.00 in all just that day). We did a few other fundraisers as well like Lap Beads that track the miles you walked, pictures with Batman (Superhero's was the Relay theme), cookies, etc. It was a fun day. Hot during the day and freezing at night. I'm surprised our entire team isn't sick. Here's a few pictures of the day.

Here's all the cards that were made...there were more but we had sold quite a bit at this point.

The Bat Cave my girlfriend/Co-Captain and her husband did. They are 2 amazing people and I love them. I couldn't have had this team without them. I can never repay them. Love you Melissa and Bill!!!

So on another note, I'll get back to card making/scrapbooking next week. I have a sick little girl at home with SCARLET FEVER!! Yikes!

Kinda Crafty...

Today I attempted to make sugar cookies in the shape of the Awareness Ribbon and frosted pink for our Relay this weekend. UGH...What a MESS!!! My first batch I used the completely wrong type of icing. I used regular strawberry icing and I realized after a dozen that I would not be able to package them cause it would smear the icing. So...went back to the store and got cookie icing and that was much better. Only problem...there was no pink! So I had to get white and cover it in pink sprinkles. I only did 2 dozen and I was D.O.N.E! I packaged them in the small clear envelope packages from Stampin' Up, punched out note cards with the Big Shot and use my trusty old scallop punches and circles for the flower. I'm tired. These took much longer than anticipated. But that's what you get when you're NOT Betty Crocker. Ha! Enjoy my mess!

Mojo Monday Week 80

This was a fun card for me. I pulled out the heat embossing supplies and got to work. AND I used some Tinkerbell paper I've been holding onto forever and finally used. So let's just say that this card (I made a set of 6) was made from all scraps I had left over...well the paper anyway. I love when I can use up all the little pieces that I wonder if I'll ever use again but hang onto them anyway. ;-) Enjoy!

Fun crop night with the girls...

My BFF Heather had a crop night over at her place tonight and it was FUN! Met a new member of our group, she goes by the fabulous name of JULIE! Liked her right away when she cursed. LOL. Anyone who knows me knows I have a sailor mouth...which I'm working on...but not tonight. . Here's a couple of cards I 'scrap lifted' from a couple of great websites and you'll be pleased to know I wrote down where they came from so I could give credit. The first is from iStamp (Nancy Riley) whom I LOVE! Her work is fabulous and I look at it 100 times a day if not more. And as you can see, I copied it almost down to the T. Couple of changes but nothing much.



And this card set I got from Dannie Graves, another very talented designer. Again, copied almost exactly.




I decided to take a couple of ideas from these ladies so that it would be an easy night and I didn't have to lug all my possessions over there. UGH! I forgot some things, but had what I need to do these. Usually when I go to crops I never really know what I want to do so then I take everything, but tonight I planned ahead and it worked out great. I will surely do that more often.

Another set of cards done for Relay. This was a fun card to make. I love working with black and white. It's just classic and elegant no matter what you do with it. I got my inspiration off of SCS...but as usual I don't write down the info so I couldn't find it again when I went back to get the link. So...when I find it I'll give credit where credits due. It's been a while...

I have a sick kiddo...

I would LOVE to do something this week but life is getting in my way. My poor baby girl is sick with an ugly bug. She started getting sick on Sunday while we were down South visiting friends and I can't seem to break the fever. It comes and goes, but it seems to find it's way back to us. Any suggestions? I've been piggy backing Tylenol and Motrin and that stops it until it wears off and then it comes back to rear it's ugly head. She did manage to go to school today. She seemed fined when she got up, but not so sure that was a good idea. Hopefully a good nights rest will find her well tomorrow. Otherwise...off to the Dr. Hopefully a card is on it's way.

Last minute Valentines Cards....

My poor Husband and Daughter always get the shaft! Here it's almost 11:30pm and I'm just getting their cards done. I like them though. I used left over scraps of my Candy Lane designer series (#11380) and the Love You Much stamp set (#113756).

I totally 'scraplifted' this design from Jamie Sears. Check out her blog...she's another amazing stamper/scrapper. I copied this almost exactly since I was WAY too tired to really change it up and make it mine.


My daughter LOVES Valentines Day. She will be so excited when she wakes up to this.



And my husband got these for me today. He's trying to play it cool...but I found the little 'shiny' box in the closet. He needs to learn to hide it better. LOL!

School Goody Bags...DONE!!

Well almost anyway. Ha! So here are the 'almost' finished treat bags for Rebecca's Valentines party next Friday. All that's left to do is add a little something on the 'heart candy' bags. I loaned my 'Love You Much' Stamp set to my girlfriend and I'm getting it back on Saturday. I've decided to just leave the bags themselves alone and not add too much. Hindsight 20/20, I really should've made these more for kids and not so mature (you know with the paper colors and such), but I was too excited to make them and too lazy to run out to Michael's and get paper. Oh well. Maybe the Moms will love them and book a party. (I stuck a business card on the bottom of them...is that tacky?!) Who cares...I need to book some parties! LOL!




I couldn't believe how easy these were to make. I just love the Top Note die. It is so versatile.

Teachers bag. Not much but it was fun to make. I've still got to get more New York Patty mints to fill it up more. I made two of these as she has 2 teachers who job share. And I have to admit that this is the very first box I've made so I'm quite proud of it.

Not too sick to do some crafts...

I just can't lay in bed and sleep anymore! I still have no voice and 'remy Dr. can't get me in. So I'm going to see how the day goes and if I need to go to Urgent Care I will.

I started these the other day and really needed to finish them. They're little gift bags for Rebecca's Valentines Party next Friday. I'm not quite done with them yet. I'm going to make some cute 'little' cards and attach them to the top left corners of the bags. Maybe I'll get to that tomorrow. Of course I'll post the completed pictured.

I got my inspiration off of Splitcoast Stampers and inparticular this CUTE bag! I just added my own touches. This is such a cheap and easy way to make gift bags. There's so much you can do to them. Who would've ever though that a simple brown lunch bag could be used in so many different ways. It's cool!

I couldn't resist....

So my girlfriend Melissa and her son Peyton came up this weekend for a visit. And first, just let me say that ever since I moved 3 hours away from all of my friends in June, they've all come to see me as much as I've been to see them. Those are real friends and I love them for that. OK...on to scrapbooking...

Well Mr. Peyton has always loved my daughter Rebecca and the feeling is mutual. And Peyton is ALL boy. He's rough and tough and once in a while he'll even let out a curse word. Which isn't funny...but it is. One of his favorite words is 'My daddy's a Bad Ass!". LOL. It's true. His daddy is an American Hero and has served our country for 16+ years as a Marine and has done 2 tours in Iraq. He's not just a bad ass...he's an American Bad Ass!!

Ok...so here's this darling little boy who worships my girly girl. So yesterday Rebecca decided to put on one of her many Princess dresses. Joking, I said "Peyton, do you wanna put on a dress?" He said "NO!". That didn't last long, because once he saw his 'girlfriend' in a pretty dress, he basically said what the heck and put on the one that had the most blue in it. Gotta give him credit for that! He did not choose the PINK one. So he puts the dress on and then the bow headband too. LOVED it!!! He wasn't too proud to go out back and even drive the purple Barbie Jeep. When he does something, he gives 100%! LOL!! He didn't take it off until bath time...many hours later when he (and Rebecca) smelled like wet dogs from sweating in those dresses outside.

I couldn't help but do a layout for Melissa, whom in her defense was not at all happy with her son in a dress and even sporting bright pink lipstick I'm certain Rebecca put on him. So I HAD to take a picture of it to post, to not only warn her that it's coming to her on Saturday at Bunco, but to document the layout before the 'Bad Ass American Hero' shreds it up in little pieces! Haaaaaaaa! Too Funny!

No posts for a day or two. I have a couple of girlfriends coming up to visit for the weekend. I know for a fact we'll be doing some scrapbooking so I'll have pictures to post later. I was suppose to do a workshop this weekend but had to postpone it because my order didn't come in from SU. Actually it's on backorder. That's ok though. I'll reschedule it and it'll be great.

Shower Invitation Sample...

I was invited today by my Sister-In-Law to help plan a baby shower for my other SIL who's due in August (so excited for them). I knew right away the invitation I wanted to make. So I went searching for the card I saw on one of the MANY, MANY blogs I surf daily. I found it at the fabulous Lauren Meaders blog. So I'm still a month or so away from having to start these, but wanted to see if I could even do them. So this is just my first sample card. I plan to make them a little bit more elaborate with some embellishments...when we find out what she's having. Well...If we find out what she's having. But it turned out cute anyway and it was SO SUPER easy. Laurens very good at explaining how she does things...that's a huge relief for me.


I'm a stickle fanatic. Love the stuff!

Spring Inspiration...

Birthday Card...

'Adhereing' to my New Years goals (excuse the pun-LOL!), I made this set of cards with mostly scraps I had left over from other projects. Except for the card base.

I really LOVE this stamp set. I just can't seem to stop working with it. I pull out other sets but always end up putting it back and getting these out. Must be the time of year huh? I've also had this ribbon (the 1 1/2" flowered one) for over a year and have never used it. So I chose my colors around the ribbon.




Forgive the picture quality. My other camera is out in the car and it's raining like crazy! We totally need the rain so I'm not complaining one bit.

So yesterday I spent ALL DAY (9am to 10pm) with my good friend here in Bakersfield. It was her 29th (AAAAchoooooyeahright37th! Oh bless me!)birthday. And she wanted an "It's my birthday and I'll crop if I want to" day with her friends. So we did...all day. It was fun and relaxing and I didn't check my email one time yesterday. So lot's of catching up to do today. Ha! But that's OK.

A quick Birthday Card...

I threw this together this morning for a party my daughter had to attend. I got my insiration from the challenge that I posted on the 11th. Feeling the Love...

2 New Layouts

I got together with some of my girlfriends from my scrapbook group I have here. I had such a good time just cropping and watching soaps, chit chattin' and having pizza. I was able to complete a challenge that Katie gave to us on our MeetUp group. It had to be a page about 'YOU'. Not your family, not your pets, YOU! Here's what I came up with. (Excuse the picture quality AGAIN! One of these days I have to bite the bullet and get a new scanner. Until then you have to deal with me taking pictures of them).

Thanks Katie for the challenge. However, I can still count on 1 hand how many layouts there are with me on them. You're so right, the moms always are behind the camera and never infront of it.

And I was finally able to find all the other pictures of Rebecca with Santa so I was able to do one last layout of Christmas stuff before I move onto other things.

Sketch Challenge...

So I decided (kind of like my New Years resolution) that this year I wanted to make MORE cards this year. On a lot of the other blogs I read, the wonderful ladies put up challenges for you to do, so I'm going to do them. Hopefully at LEAST one a week if not more. I redid my scrapbook corner here and added another table for more work space. Made it more user friendly for myself. I had a whole room to myself in our other house and here I have to share half of it with my dear Joe. I really like to spread out so I was feeling a bit clausterphobic with just my desk. Now I've doubled my workspace and getting that creative itch I've been missing since we've moved here.

Not really diggin' the color of the flowers. Doesn't really go with the colors in my paper. That's what I get for already adhereing it on before coloring it. Oh well. I'm going to send this to my sister Lisa in Texas!

Dear Santa...

Christmas Layout...

This is my newest layout. I forgot to turn on the flash so the pictures are a bit dark and I am WAY too lazy to redo them. LOL! And the angle I took the picture at makes it look slanted a bit. One day I will get another scanner. Santa are you listening???

Letter to Santa

A heartbreaking Story...

Check out the story one of my Scrapbook MeetUp members wrote for the local paper: Click here. This is such a sad story and with my work through the American Cancer Society, I just had to do something for them. So on the 19th, my scrapbook group is gonna get together and put a basket of needed items together. We're also going to get the Mom some scrapbook stuff so she can preserve her memories of this precious little girl. We all have items we don't use and it's for such a great cause. I think I'll go to some local stores and see if they'll donate some stuff as well. If any of you have stuff you don't use, let me know-we'll surely take it off your hands.

Be grateful for what you have this Holiday Season, especially your children and your health

Christmas Album

Here is a cute Christmas Album I made today. It has 5 pages that are envelopes. Inside each envelope is a layout that pulls out for 2 photos-one on each side. This one is taken as I made it for my Nephews baby. However I can make more of these and in any holiday theme or everyday theme you choose. I can make them in any size as well. This book is a 5 1/2" x 7".

New layouts

I had a great weekend scrapbooking with my dearest friends from Southern California. Here's a few things I worked on. I'm not so happy with the 'Beauty' page and will probably re-do or add a few things, but the others I'm happy with. I think they turned out great.
